Some fifty odd years back while working on the QE I managed to get a quick visit to the QM while we were in port at the same time. [ Well it would have been hard to other wise ]

what did you do in the army?
i've considered joining the reserves as a gun number (arty) or aircraft technician but not sure if i'd fit in.

I think this is not the right place for this subject but:-

In the army I did a bit of this and that.

I would like to point out to you that if you’re thinking of joining the army/reserve. Not only do take you see all these exotic places, well that’s what the adds say, they teach you to kill people, that’s not in the adds.
