It shows that Zone Alarm Free, which I have, is very poor achiever in leak tests scoring only 6 tests out of 26.   Shall I look for something else? For quite a few years ZA Free has been good to me.

Comodo is free and comes in top of the list ...  I have run it for a while now and is great ...

Get it here   http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Sorry Jimbob, one more question. Have installed COMODO, shall I delete ZA?

I believe that it's not advisable to run 2 firewalls side by side.

I'm using ZA free
and wished I could move to Commodo but unfortunately it's not working with Vista according to their site. May be they'll catch up with it one day soon. ZA has only just now caught up with Vista.

Hi,I  disabled  Windows Firewall &  installed Comodo from the url that Jimbo showed but I cannot see anything on Tasbar to indicate   that it is  working ,It keeps telling me that the program is installed on my computer when I click on the icon on desktop.
The help section doesn't give much  information, I just wonder whether  it is looking after   me

HI Neonwizard, I thought  I had  restarted it after installing  Comodo but obviously I  didn't get it done as I did a restart after your message & there is now a object on the task bar,   thanks  for  your help.
I still cannot get  Thunderbird  installed even with uninstalling Windows Firewall  that I replaced with Zone alarm & then on Jimbo's sugessstion I changed to  Comodo so I have  done a lot of  installing  lately.

I had Comodo Firewall installed, and it was tops, before they added a VirusScan etc.!

Then my McAfeeVirusScan had to be renewed, they also offered a Firewall etc. for a couple of extra $.
So I went for that Option, it was only about $50,-- all up, seeing McAfee has allways done the right Thing by me over the years, and never had a Virus.

Well perhaps I am crazy, not saving those $50,-- and reinstalling Comodo again,..... maybe I will when Mc.Afee needs to be renewed again in 7 month time...................but Loyalty gets in the way sometimes

Since you guys are talking about the Comodo Firewall I'll let Comodo tell you why not to run 2 firewalls:

Will running two firewalls together be better than one?

Solution: No, it will not be safer or better for you to run two firewalls together.

In fact, it will be worse. You should never run two firewalls together as they will probably conflict, and cause system errors that will not normally happen if you run either of the firewalls separately.

We highly recommend you not only disable, but also uninstall completely, other firewalls you have when running CPF. (You will not be able to uninstall Windows XP firewall, but you should disable it.)

*This doesn't mean you can't run a hardware & software firewall together, this set up it different because the hardware firewall is independent from the computer hardware and operating system.*

Hi,
Well I don't know whether  I  have done something wrong  but if the computer  is  left switched on standby.  Comodo turns itself off & Windows  Firewall wants to  come on, I get an entry saying to "click on the ballon to get protection  back"
I have  been into Comodo Support but cannot  seem to get a message to  them even though I have registered with  them
I am using WindowsXp  with  Firefox but cannot  get Thiunderbird to install

It is possible that when you Uninstalled Zone Alarm some of the applications were not removed and may still be activated on start up, the complete removal instructions can be found at this link.

I had trouble installing Comodo initially so I uninstalled it and ran ccleaner, jv16 and did a virus test. That worked fine as it got rid of all the registry entries from ZA.

Love Comodo!

hi there  ,
After reading the firewall analysis , I uninstalled ZA & installed Comodo .. all working well ... now just a querie about ZA followed all the steps that link you sent of ZA removal the final stage didnt work ....
Now remove all ZoneLabs keys that may be left in the Windows registry. To do this copy the lines below and paste them into Notepad.

Save the file as zabegone.reg, double click it and allow for the registry changes to be made

Does it matter if dont worry about this ?
cheers Kacee
