Hi Folks CA Anti-Virus reported that it has quarantined Win32/AMalum.ZZNPB, ZZOKH AND ZZOAF, Then I get a notice from Windows File Protection to install Win ProXp Service Pack 3, to restore unrecognised versions of the files that have been altered. I do not have a SP3 CD as I downloaded the SP3 from Microsoft. I am using Win Pro Xp. Should I just use the windows restore programme? Any solutions would be much appreciated

It sounds like you have got damaged system files from the virus ..
I don't know a system restore will help as that could just bring back the virus ...
You do need to borrow an XP Pro Sp3 disk and run a systems file check to replace the damaged system files.

Hi,
My CA has given me the same message - I am doing a rescan for viruses now, but can I just cancel the message prompting me to insert the SP3 disk? I as well downloaded this update from the web. If my virus check comes back negative can I assume it was a false positive? The CA site isn't really clear on what I should do.
Thanks, Rita.

Windows File Protection is part of the windows system and if it is asking for a disk then it is saying you have damaged or changed system files.
The solution is to have the system checker verify and copy down the original system files.

I've just finished doing a virus scan, and it has come back clear i.e. no viruses/infections found. Does this mean that everything is fine now, even though I havn't taken any action?

Hi All I have heard from CA Anti-Virus that you need to update to 6606 to fix the problem. This link might help http://cainternetsecurity.net/Support/default.aspx?tabid=83Desb
