Hi all,

Whenever I open a document in word or excel, the document is automatically scanned for viruses.

This means the document can take ages to open.

Any suggestions on how I can stop the scan from happening ?

xp2, office 2003, avg free.

I've looked at the help section of both programs, but can't find anything.

Thanks,

Bruce

Try the following:
On the Tools menu, in Word and Excel
click Macros
Click  Security
Click the Security Level tab, and then select the security level you want to use. (mine is on high)

In the "Trusted Publisher" Tab, put a tick in "Trust all installed add inns and Templates"
PS. lower the Security Slider if needed.

Make sure your VirusScan Program is Updated.!!
