Clock Chimer

Downloaded and installed CHIMER as per Neon's topic Websites - Chimer - of 2007. Served me nicely till now when it lost the actual chimes for the 1/4 and full hour. Testing MIDI it sounded perfect. Decided to delete Chimer's file and tried to download it again with the help of Neon's topic. Both sites shown there do not work anymore - FILE NOT FOUND -
Google brought up firstly Blaitz ent., download failed for free. Secondly CNET downloaded 544KB
file OK with all the same features, but still no chimes. Midi test once again perfect, all boxes in Setting checked correctly.
Any ideas to regain the chimes please.

Valdis,
I fixed a similar problem I had a couple of years ago and thought I had reported on it to this forum. It was a peculiarity that affected XP installations so I pass this on for what it may be worth. To fix the problem, go to "Sounds and Audio Devices" in Control Panel and, under the Volume tab, in the "Device Volume" section, click "Advanced". Now look at the middle slider control labelled "SW Synth". If its reading zero, reset it to maximum. Chimer should now play the chimes.
