1. Having a senior moment I can't remember where to find the list of programs that start at startup so I can stop a couple of programs.  Please, where do I find that bit?

2.  Getting the defective RAM replaced in the laptop, the techie is trying yet again to get me to use a paid antivirus program instead of the free version of AVG.  According to him it does not work properly.  Has for me for several years, but I do check for updates very regularly  like more than once a day.  He's also trying to talk me out of using Zone Alarm.
Any comments for a discussion on the subject??  Huh?

It think AVG had some issues with vista when it first came out but that is probably fixed by now. And if you are using xp then it works fine.

can't remember the answer to the first question though sorry.

Hi neese,

To  find your   Start Up Folder - Right click the Start Button and click Explore.

This will take you directly to the Start Menu folder - click Programs that is just below it - then click Startup which you will find on the list.

You can then delete or add a program to the Startup folder.

Dont forget the more you have in Startup the longer your computer takes to boot up.

Cheers..  Isisrose

You can download Startup Control Panel 2.8 install and then click the new icon in the control panel to stop things running.

Keep use you AVG and Zonealarm nothing wrong with it.
