Good evening,

Firstly, I hope that everyone has had a fantastic start to 2010!

Secondly, I would like to personally thank the management team, Neonwizard, Jimbob and Tassie for their continued support in the day to day operations of this helpdesk.  It’s a little hard to believe as we enter February 2010 that we moved this setup on the  14th of May 2007.  These 3 managers have dedicated countless hours to this helpdesk not only assisting members but in managing member registrations, queries and the odd community problem / problem member.

So why the big post?
Over the past 18 months Yvonne Adele, the individual behind the more commonly known Ms Megabyte, has positioned herself as a national & international identity following a different trend, Creative Thinking. Her latest ventures are Ideas Culture – http://www.ideasculture.com – and her personal website and blog located at http://www.yvonneadele.com

As Yvonne moves deeper into these areas she has decided to close down the Ms Megabyte profile, including the website which was recently taken offline and to follow, this helpdesk.

When presented with this ultimatum , the management team unanimously agreed that this community has been running for too long and provides too much support for its members to see it shutdown. To enable this however we not only require the management staff to continue their invaluable assistance, but there is now a financial component for providing the helpdesk hosting (where it lives on the internet) and the domain name (the address of our helpdesk)

Helpdesk Hosting
Much to my appreciation, before even being asked all managers offered to contribute to the community financially in addition to their ongoing day to day assistance. I believe these three people provide an invaluable contribution already and asking this in addition is not appropriate.
There was the suggestion that we request small financial contributions from the regular members who were able to contribute, but I believe one of the key items with this forum is that it’s completely free with no advertising.

With these options in mind, I have offered the services of my own business, SilverDimension - http://www.silverdimension.com.au - to providing hosting of the helpdesk to the community free of charge.
SilverDimension has provided hosting for Ms Megabyte / Yvonne Adele and her associated websites for almost  4 years and would like to ensure that the community continues to experience the reliability which we have seen during this time.

Helpdesk Name
With the removal of Ms Megabyte, that leaves us with a search for a new name! Not only will the new name be required for the name of the helpdesk, but a new address will be registered to be the new website location of the helpdesk.

The managers have decided that the best way to choose a new name is to allow all members to be involved in re-naming our site!  We will be creating a simple registration form over the next two weeks which once posted will enable you to submit your own suggestions for our new name.

Once this process is completed management will chose 3 names which will be put to a poll of the community.  Once the final name has been chosen, we will be re-branding the helpdesk, choosing a new layout and changing our domain name over the next two months.

At this stage, this is just a notice that these changes are all coming to a computer screen near you!

Keep your eye on the forums for the registration form / polls over the coming weeks and please feel free to ask any questions you have in this thread.

Hello Andrew, First I would like to thank you for letting us members know just what is happening, and to be reassured we are not left high and dry...I must thank Neon, Jim and Tassie for all the assistance we have received in the past and I look forward to a new, refreshed and renamed site...Personally I always felt we were the  poor relation to MSMegabyte, I recall the only time I saw her here was when she had computer trouble and came here for help. I think most of us here  know that we have some excellent Techs  who give much of their time and effort... I look forward to the new leaf, and trust that you can all be there for us  in the future..Thanks again, Bribiec

Andrew, you and the other three great managers deserve heaps of kudos for keeping  this show running without any financial rewards.    Thank you once more  Bow

Andrew,
Many thanks for letting the members know of the upcoming changes.  I believe that the knowledge imparted to the members with their problems is unsurpassed.  I have been a member of many forums with specific problems relating to their product, and the only reliable solutions I get are from your wonderful managers.  Keep up the good work and I look forward to the new Helpdesk.

I'd like my appreciative thanks to go to you all. You never seem to get stuck for an answer (or very seldom)
I agree that a new name would help to give us a new identity but hopefully we can keep the same format.

I cannot begin to tell you what a tremendous help this site has been to me over the years since I first discovered it.   I'd like to thank the managers for all their encouragement and patience.    Eric was the first one who sorted out my muddles.

I wish you well as we open a new chapter.
With kind regards,  Jill.

All I can say is THANK YOU to all for keeping this site going.  Its the one site I do visit every day and continue to learn so much, and hope to do so in the future.
I've no idea for a new name though.

Hi
I too would like to take the opportunity to thank the guys who take the time to assist, and particularly jimbob who has gone "beyond the contract" with me personally
For me who is a complete computer novice this, site had and continues to have a lack of what I spose could be called "geekyness" which means a novice gets help without the assumption of computer literacy,as many sites do, a lifesaver to me especially in the early days. this help desk is my homepage and most of my help comes from simply prowling around the site
Sorry for prattling just had to take the opportunity to say thanks

Like all of the others in the forum, I thank you all for the patience and support that you have shown over the last few years. Even if we had to pay a fee..........it would be money well spent.

My humble thanks to you all.
