I have MS Word 2003, and Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8.
I want to convert Word documents to .pdf format, so I can email them, as in .doc or .rtf, they are too large.

Thanks,

Leigh Willaston

Hi Leigh
I too have Adobe Reader 8 but the problem is it is just a READER. You can't use it to convert documents to a pdf file. There are several free and open source programs available if you go hunting for them on Google.
Personally I'm using novaPDF Printer and find it very easy to use. The one trick to get your mind to accept is when you want to convert a document to a pdf you do it by File/Print and actually select the program to "print" which of course it doesn't but converts what-have-you to a pdf. Works for me like a charm.

"novaPDF Printer is available as Shareware - another way of saying "Try before you buy".  It is fully functional with no time limitation. A notice is printed on each PDF page mentioning the novaPDF Printer. The notice will be removed when you buy and register novaPDF Printer license. You can buy a license key online by filling out the purchase form."

I don't print the pdf but use it in emails and I've never seen the above-mentioned notice.

Let us know how you got on, nell-again.

thanks, Nell-again,
I have been using a free .pdf converter programme as you suggested. I had used one a long time ago, and had forgotten what to do.
Now that I've got it right, I think I'll remember it in future.
Yes, I worked out the bit about "sending it to a printer", and I, too, use it mainly for emailing, because the file is so much smaller.

Thanks,

Nice to hear from you after all this time, LW
and good that it worked out fine for you.
I had the program so long I forgot about it and when I found it one day as a printer I was baffled how it got there. Comes in handy on odd occasions.

nell-again.
