Well, i have finally done it. After lots of procrastination I finally upgraded.
Have a Dell Inspiron Laptop, 4g RAM 500 HD. Windows 7.
All new to me but am enjoying the speed after my old girl (9yrs old and showing it's age)
Now all I have to do is get my Belkin Wireless router working and I will be home free.
Rang the Belkin Support Desk. OH NO! Ended up with an Indian Call Centre. Very poor command of English.
Why do they do that? It is sooooo frustrating.
anyway I will give my ISP a call when school goes back and I can concentrate.
Hopefully they can talk me through it.
I am seriously thinking of changing ISP so perhaps it may be advisable to wait until then.
In the mean time things are working well via my old system of cables.

It sounds good .... I am enjoying my new one too .... loading it slowly with quality select programs .... I can't see it being too long before I phase out XP and have my 64bit Win7 running smoothly

I too have purchased a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit.  Must say Xp seemed much simpler but perhaps that was because I used for so long. I do like Windows 7 but it seems to take a while to load which I find strange. Guess I will get used to it soon enough...or could it be change is harder for "seniors". Seems to be a lot in it that I am not likely to use.

Yes, I have noticed the slow loading too Nan.
Took a lot of stuff out of the Start Menu but it seems to need to sit a while before I can open Outlook or Firefox.
Maybe something I just need to get used too.
