Warning: This is a Rant!

I'm get two Panasonic hot/cold inverter wall air conditioning put in next Wednesday for about $1700 for the two units but the installing cost is $1200 for the pair WTF! I remember the days when you bought something and the installation was done as part of the service.

29 years ago I bought a kelvinator 2hp reverse cycle AC, we had to pay someone to install it, cost us $450.00. Expensive even then.

I recently had air con installed. I had an electrician doing some work on the house so he ran the wiring for the air con from the meter to the cut off switch.
He couldn't install the air con because he did not have a gas licence.

Imagine my horror to find that the air con installers charged for the SAME wiring without doing the work.
They say it is standard fees
I did check around and found that was correct.
What a rip off!!

I have a daikin split system, reverse cycle aircondition. it replaced 1 I had for quite a few yrs. I find it very economical to run. I also have split system aircondition unit in 1 bedroom., it isn't reverse cycle. I didn't realize u could buy reverse cycle airconditioners 29 yrs. ago. I think my daikin were much dearer to buy and install compared to the prices you have all paid. My house is very cold in winter and cool in summer.

It's not just air con installation.  I recently had a 'tastic'' installed in the bathroom.  Cost me $99.  Installation was $450!!!!!  Nearly had a fit.  Never using that lot again.  That was an electrician + an apprentice for 2 hours - which included them going away to get a switch they had not brought with them.  Mind you I had gone to the electricians to ask price of installation and told not expensive.....  Comp0laint did no good.  Grrrrrrrrr
