I have started to get messages that Apple updates are ready for download.

I do not have a Mac or so far as I know any Apple software.

I am running Windows XP SP3.

Then, on starting up a notice appeared against All Programs saying that a new program had been installed which is “Apple Software Updates”.

Does anyone know about this please?  Is it scammers?

Do you have iTunes or Quicktime installed?

Oh dear Jim.

Not conciously but they seem to be referred to in these Apple messages.

Thanks for help and great reply.

Jim when I opened the Apple update to look at it, it asked me if I wanted to install Safari 5.  What is this please?

Thanks Jim.

It's very wearing getting all these Apple messages and now it's asked me if I want to install mobilmeme Control Panel. What is this? Another thing I've never heard of.

Is there any way I can stop all this? I see I can uninstall the Apple updates programme but if I do that will it uninstall the programme itself or just the updates?

Thanks for help.

You could take quicktime off and install VLC player ... it will view anything you need to see that quicktime does.
