Hi everyone, I hope you can help.

I have Windows XP SP3, I use Microsoft Office 2003.

I am doing a course in aged care, I was working on one of the units in the course which is stored on my memory stick. I had to go on to the internet for some information, when a notice came up to say that my work could not be saved and needed to close. I closed Mozilla and the word document was no longer on the memory stick.

I was on the last couple of tasks and had not saved it anywhere else. I need to get the unit in this arvo and do not have the time to redo it. Does anyone know if I can retrieve this document.

Thanks in advance.

I'm just wondering if it saved to My Documents instead of on the memory stick, might be worth a look.

You could have a look in My Recent Documents which shows documents recently worked on.

Thanks neonwizard and pinkcloud, checked all that but no luck. It actually has been deleted.

I went on the internet to look for a program to retrieve deleted files. Downloaded file recover, ran it and the file is retrievable except I now have to pay for the program to recover the file.
So I am now looking for a free one, if anyone knows of any that will work without having to pay for it, I will be very grateful, thanks.

Have a look at Recuva its from the same makers of CCleaner.

Before using backup the stuff on the memory stick first

Thanks neonwizard.

I have downloaded recuva, and even though it has recovered the file it has been overridden with another document that I deleted weeks ago. I then used text recovery converter but to no avail.
Thank you for your help with this, but I will just have to restart this unit from scratch.

Cheers, Marianne.
