My friend has been caught by tech-optimizers.com & she gave the scammer control of her XP pc similar to this forum entry http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1641510. When the time came to pay for help she could not continue as she does not have access to internet banking with no bank records on her hard drive.

My question is :- After running a full scan with MS Internet Security & using CCleaner is her computer likely to be safe or should a technician check it out.

Shall be grateful for help with this.

She's lucky a Root-kit or Key-logger etc wasn't installed, since the scan didn't find any I guess it should be Ok but if she has any doubts backup format and reinstall Windows.

Thanks once again for your help Neonwizard.  I have warned my friend to be more careful in future.
