My Anti Virus Programmme with VET comes up for renewal shortly....at a cost.     l have had good protection for several years with them.    Should l save my money and use AGV or something similar that is free  ?    Opinions appreciated.

Yeah ... AVG is good and so is Avast Home (my preference) both free and good protection.

There is a new kid on the block, awhile ago AOL aloud folks to download and free and slimmed download version of Kaspersky called Active Virus Shield, it's detection rate was excellent, but it has been discontinued and in is place AOL has leased McAfee® VirusScan Plus – Special edition from AOL this is a Firewall and AntiVirus

System Requirements:

Windows Vista
- 800 MHz or higher processor
- 512MB RAM
- 200MB hard disk space

Windows 2000, XP
- 500 MHz or higher processor
- 256MB RAM
- 200MB hard disk space

To get it you have to fill in a form and use a US post code and a email address to receive the key, I used my second Gmail account that all my spam get sent to do this. (Hopefully they will fix the site soon to take Australian post codes)

I'm now using this software on both XP & Vista and it's great to now get a free suite.
