highlite photos in Windows 7

Hi just bought new laptop with Windows 7 OS, could you tell me how to highlite all the photos at once, could do it in XP but this does not seem to work with 7

Click on the first one to highlight it ....... hold sown the shift key .... then click on the last one and all will be highlighted....
