GPS
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:19:26 PM »

Hi Folks
My PC will not recognise my TomTom GPS when plugged into a USB Port.  I have tried flash drives in the same port and it is recognised by the port.  Any solutions

desbet,
if I update my TomTom, I make sure it is charged up a little first,
plug into USB,
then switch GPS on, the Button on top of Device,
it will ask you after a few seconds if you want to connect to the Internet, press yes,
this opens the TomTom Download Screen, and Updates automatically.
Hope it helps.

Thanks Jutto
That is what I have been doing, since Dec 2011 and TomTom support have been unable solve the problem so far.  They tell me that when I plug TomTom in, it does not show as a drive but an internet connection on the network. The network connection shows TomTom connected, however
it shows connecting on the TomTom but does not connect.

desbet,
have you tried the following:
plug Device into USB,
switch it on,
then "right click" on the TOMTOM Icon in your Taskbar,
select "Start TOMTOM Home".
or "check Updates",

if that does not work go to Control Panel find "TOMTOM Home Visiual Studio Merge Modules", right click and select " repair", see what happens.

Thanks Jutta
TomTom HOME does not apply to newer models like mine i.e. Via 220.  When my model plugs in to the PC USB port it goes to network connection, not a drive.   After nearly 4 weeks dealing with Tom Tom Support they have suggested I return ti to them for repair.
Thanks for your suggestions
