Hi I have a Western Digital external hard drive that I have tried to clean up as I have been having some problems with. I moved all files to another external HD and used Disk Utility on my Mac to clean it up, but when I try to move selected folder (movies) back to the WD HD it tells me     :The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0)." any suggestions please.
Thank you

This could be a Fat 32 issue, open Disk Utility and look and see if any of the drives are Fat32 if they are first try copying smaller amounts of data (no larger than 4GB at a time) over to the drive.

Most of my extenal drives are converted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or NTFS (required mac software NTFS for MAC $20 Tuxera NTFS for Mac $31 or NTFS-3G free with Macfuse free both must be installed. I prefer NTFS for MAC install and forget.

Let me know how you go.

Working well now, thank you. Re your comment that  Most of my extenal drives are converted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or NTFS (required mac software NTFS for MAC $20 Tuxera NTFS for Mac $31 or NTFS-3G free with Macfuse free both must be installed. I prefer NTFS for MAC install and forget. do you mean that if I buy NTFS and install I will have no further problems with external hard drives and I only need to install it and then do nothing else? I see I already have Macfuse and Perian what do I use these for?
Cheers.

Macfuse and NTFS-3G work together to allow you the read and write files to a NTFS formatted disc, Perian is a Quicktime plugin that allows you to view most video formats

OK but do I still need to buy "I prefer NTFS for MAC install and forget from you previous comment?".

Nother question I have a Sony USB Media Player SMP-U10 that I have been using to play the movies from the external hard drive above through my dig.TV through the HDMI cable, but another WD 1600BEVT SATA 3.0Gbps that I removed from a dead laptop and put into a hard drive carrier and works when I plug it into any computer USB is not recognised by the Sony Media player, the green light comes on on the HD but the message on the Tv screen  says  " Overload occurred. Turn off the system and remove the USB device"
Any suggestions what I might do?

Thank you again for your help.

If you buy NTFS for MAC that is all you need but if you what the free solution then you need both Macfuse and NTFS-3G installed.

The Sony USB Media Player SMP-U10 only support FAT32 formatted Hard Drives

It could be that the laptop drive may not be supported for some reason
