To add an avatar go to “Profile' at the top of the page. On the left under the section "Modify Profile", click on "Forum Profile Information".

Choose a generic avatar from the Avatar Gallery, or you can check the radio button "I have my own pic:" link to a web page or you can check the radio button "I will upload my own picture:" then click the "browse" button and navigate to a image on your hard drive.
