Fernyhill, do you mean the Spell Check your Daughter did on your Document in her Word 2001, are showing individual Word with red lines under them in your 2003 ?, if so try this,

Open Word>>open Document>>Tools>>Spelling and Grammar>>click on Options (on bottom of open Dialogbox)>>put a tick in “Hide spelling Errors in this Document.
(just don’t forget to untick again afterwards)

Is your PC, and Word set up to check spelling for “English – Australia”?  to be able to use “spell check as you type”.
In case it is not, do the following

•   In Word go Tools>> Languages>>Set Language>>Highlight English Australia>>Tick “Detect Language Automatically” , then press Default.
•   Start>> Control Panel>>Regional Languages Options Icon>>Regional Languages Tab>>select “English (Australia)” by clicking on the little black Down Arrow, on Bottom in "Location"- select Australia
•   Language Tab on top>>Details Tab>>select English (Australia)
•   Advance Tab>> select English (Australia)
•   Now click on Apply down the bottom and then OK. Out.
•   You can select other Languages as well if you need to, and show a Language Bar in your Taskbar, every time you switch Languages it will show the correct Spell Checker!

Jutta
PS. One can also make good use of  Hyphenations in Docs. by going to Tools>>Language>>Hyphenation, just by ticking Automatic, however it will have to be set up again, when typing a new Document.

Is it the ALTERATIONS
your daughter typed that you are talking about?

If so couldn't you go Edit>Select All and then change the colour of the whole text?

Just guessing, nell-again.

Fernyhill,
you may know this, but here is what I do with words like it (e.g. I keep typing alos instead of also etc.),
Go to Tools>>Auto Correct Options>>Auto Correct Tab.
Tick all the Boxes
under "Replace" type in the misspelled Word,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,under "with", type in how it should be spelled, click OK.

Result: you can type now Adjistment, Ajistment or Agistment, Word will type it as instructed in Auto Correct!
Or in my case "also" etc.!
