hello, everybody.

I had quite a bit of a problem with loosing the sound when I went from Vista to XP. At present XP is still mute, but manage to go back to Vista. Which is a real pain in the ......

Aparently XP in my case cannot accept Service Pak 2. It ends up giving me that shocking blue screen with all the words on it. I only have the OEM version of XP with SP1 incorporated. This disk still has to be validated by you know who.

XP in my case was very fast, compared with Vista which was as slow as a wet rag.

Does anybody know, how to create a proper dual boot of XP and Vista. Aparently when you are on XP, you cannot go back to Vista unles you use the recovery disk and then wipe out the disk.

Any help is always appreciated.

Bert.

it is possible,
i have it on my system

The best way is to install XP first and then install vista over the top. XP will then show up in the boot menu as "previous version of windows"

Hi there

Thanks for your prompt reply. Just a couple more questions if I may.

Do I have to format the C drive before I install XP. I have thought about formatting. I can do it on my old computer which has a floppy in it as well, but the new one has no floppies at all.

How do you format those new computers. I have an ACER and the company isn't very helpful at all

Thanks again

Bert.

I manage to reformat the computer using an old Windows 98 disk. I had a surprise though, although there is no floppy drive in my computer, somehow all the basic system utilities are under A: drive, which was in my old computer the floppy. This new machine sure is a real learning curve.

Anyway thanks
