I posted before about my computer running slow after this site was updated. I was told to clean out caches, would that just be cookies and temporary files which I've done, but has made no difference. I'm at a loss as it makes me not want to use the mega site. I'm not having problems with any other site or program.Any advice would be appreciated.

Can you please goto start --> run and type CMD then press enter.
A DOS style box will appear. In there, type:
ping helpdesk.getmega.com
It will show you something like this:

not sure what I've done, but I uninstalled free registry defrag, and registry mechanic and it all seems to be working much faster. Will keep u posted. registry mechanic did a check but because I didn't have the paid version, didn't fix anything so thought I'd uninstall. A friend of mine got rid of zone alarm and it sped her computer up, but I've never had probs. with Zone Alarm. Thanks for your help.

I dont think that this can be correct? If you havent used a registry cleaner you should do You can try the trial version of jv16powerTools 2006 from Macecraft

local speeds won't go low enough to have any problems. what is your isp connection speed? doing anything else at the same time. go to cmd and type. tracert http://helpdesk.getmega.com

ooshka You are quoting the capabilities of your computer connections NOT the internet speed--ie that between computers eg my internet speed is nominally 8000/384 kb/s and in practice 5000/324

Same old Same old tonight, can't stand it anymore. Eric what is the name of a registry cleaner. I uninstalled the two that I'd mentioned. I don't want to pay for them. I have only this program running and it's slower that a snail.

Vocal Scrubber and Ooshka, could you advise which service provider you use, It appears to me that you are both with the same one.

run and type CMD then press enter.
A DOS style box will appear.
As Andrew mentioned above --cmd( command)opens a DOS style box which enables you to issue a set of commands directly to the computer kernel DOS( Disk Operating Service) was the operating service prior to Windows and on which Windows was built--up to and including Windows 98. The limited resources dictated by DOS was the major shortcoming of Windows prior to Windows XP Meanwhile, Microsoft developed Windows NT which didnt rely on DOS and wasnt hampered by its shortcomings. Windows XP was developed from NT and likewise doesnt contain true DOS but some simulated parts of it
Hope this helps Eric

Just thought of something, next time you have a problem have look in the Taskmanger (press CTRL + ALT + DEL) just to make sure nothing is running the CPU at 100% if you find something is post the name of the service back here.

Hi Andrew, any Idea? I "just" read this Thread, and like to join in the Frustration Local Scrubber and ooshka are experimenting, it is a tiny bit faster this afternoon as per usual, however at night and early morning it is as fast as all the other Sites I Visit. (open Instantly) My Cache cleaned, and Registry cleaner used every Saturday have not installed or uninstalled anything lately, apart from the Windows Updates. Like oosha says it takes about 7-8 minutes to get this far ,to be able to post a Message in the Afternoons, another 2 minutes to actually have the Message posted. My ISP is BigPond, ISP Speed taken from Perth 500km south of Geraldton -1231 kb/s-Upload 218 kb/s http://www.speedtest.net/ Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
