Hi all, just discovered this site! what a great one too! I have a question i have been unable to sort out for myself, as i am a reasonably average user. I downloaded a file that is avi, but cant seem to play it or copy it. do i need to convert this somehow and if so,.. how do i do this??

.avi files can also be viewed by Windows Media Player (also free).   I prefer IrfanView because it uses less resources and is faster - it will play .avi files too and is free from here - http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

Trouble is these days Divx movies are also avi files and most other players will not play them.

Creating Images in PSP  which need the "Squirls Water Filter" applied, (to animate the Water), turns the Image into a .avi File, I then converted it back to a .gif in Animation Shop, otherwise I would never be able to post it in CA. because of its sheer size as an .avi.
