My XP crashed.  Have borrowed an iMac from my son.  Find some sites are not compatiable with Mac's.
Am undecided about purchasing a Mac.    Family seem to think Mac's are better.  Anyone agree.  What are the benefits of a Mac??

This is a perennial question and you may find many different answers by doing a search.

Personally, I prefer Windows because -
1  It gives me compatibility with other Windows users, and
2  There is a larger and better selection of software, drivers, applications and so on for Windows - not all things will work with Mac OS

I am using a MacBook Pro with both Mac OS X and Windows XP Pro - this may be a viable solution for you.

It would be meaningless to say which is "better" since that would depend on what the user wants from the computer.

The last line on that link would suggest that a Mac with both Mac OS X and Windows is the best solution - so you get the best of both worlds.

My only criticisms with this is that the Mac keyboard is not fully compatible with Windows XP Pro - The Delete key acts a a Backspace key and the Home, End, PageUP asnd PageDown keys do not function.   Also there seems to be no Right Click on the mouse pad.   I use an external mouse to get round that.

If I were buying a new laptop I would choose a Windows one as a matter of personal choice.   But then I would set it up to run Linux as a dual boot as I have already got on my PC.

Alan.

and likewise a windows key is not fully compatible with OSX, exactly what would a windows key do outside of windows?

Personally i much prefer using osx except when i'm gaming. which unfortunately isn't that much anymore. studying working and blogging takes up most of ones free time.

On the MacBook Pro under Windows the Apple key (the one with the Apple symbol on it) works as the Windows key.  For example the Apple Key + E will open up Windows Explorer and so on.

I am not familiar with OS X at all and I prefer to stick with Windows and Linux - I am slowly moving over more and more to Linux because it is safer - like OS X.
