Hello everyone

My correspondence is growing exponentially and my typing speed is woeful. Is anybody in this group using Dragon Naturally Speaking. It costs about $300 and I hesitate to buy it without hearing from users about it's usefulness. Love to have any comments.

 I think you'd would better and cheaper off getting an "learn typing" program like I did (Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Software) within two weeks you'll be typing around 20 words or more a minute.

that  program  dragon  Naturally speaking is a  bit of a con,,my neabor tryed it,, and waisted his money,,it didnt work

I have reports from 2 users who say it's incredibly fast and accurate after teaching a couple of weeks. I had hoped to get some more info from others. Looks like I might have to blaze the trial.

If you can afford it then go for it, the new recognition software is much better these days and you will be blown away how well it does work.

Saw this when I was looking through old posts and would be interested to know if you bought it?

I had it given to me as a present (although some time ago so not a new version). I thought the idea terrific but I got fed up with keep having to do corrections.

If it's better now I'd like to give it another try?

There is the other option, if you have both Vista and a graphic tablet you can then use the handwriting program.

Thanks Dayko but my handwriting is slower than my typing.

The voice activated option is by far the easiest if it is to a good standard now and I am very interested to know if nell-again did purchase Dragon Naturally Speaking said to be the best.

My initial inquiry here followed when I witnessed my doctor dictating at high speed a very lengthy report and instantly had it printed without errors.
After I took the report home I explored DNS and found there are several versions available. I cannot imagine my Dr using any other than the top line at costs greater than I'm prepared to pay. Have so far found no one who can give me any info on the less costly versions.
This week-end I will travel to Hervey Bay, nearly 1,000 km north, to meet someone who has knowledge of a version of DNS which is not top of the line. I'll report back in about three weeks.

I tried the latest cheap version last year and had no luck with it.  For some reason it would seem to install properly (XP  Sp3 but older machine) but would then not work properly.  I reinstalled several times, and ended up having to take it back and be refunded.

I had a good long yarn with a friend of a friend who uses Dragon Naturally Speaking for just on two years. The version he's using now is 9 and he is absolutely satisfied with it and would never go back to typing again. He found teaching the program took only a few days but points out the frequency of words sounding alike but are spelled differently. I think you can all come up with dozens of examples yourselves. The program accepts you spelling the word.
Of utmost importance is the right microphone to use. It's not a matter of spending the most money on it, but rather follow the recommendation of the program vendors, Dragon Naturally Speaking.
Now here comes the best part.
You can download the current program, version 10 for a mere song. I let you discover it for yourselves. The link is of no use to dial-up users as the download comes to 1656 MB.

I am embarrassed to say that I completely forgot this and have now purchased the full version from the manufacturer.

I would be interested to know if anyone purchased any software from nell-again's link as there are some things on there that I would like.

I see you haven’t had a reply to this. I think the website that nell-again's link directed you to is fairly new.

When I previously used nell-again’s link I got directed to a website called LP Store and they are still listing the version 10 of Dragon Naturally Speaking at this link

i have no office experiance as to typing but i learnt pretty quick  cause my daughter lives in nz and to keep up to her i have had to learn cause she goes like  A  flash i think that is the best way to learn talk to people on messenger
